Daikin Middle East and Africa FZE
Senior Design and Application Engineer
Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Engr. Lilian Maria Soriano Bautista is a results-driven Senior Design and Application Engineer who manages a team of product development engineers. She currently works for Daikin Middle East and Africa FZE in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Engr. Bautista is recognized for being highly organized, dedicated and plays an active role in the decision-making process to continuously move the project forward towards successful completion. She is into product engineering; a trainer, user and innovator of product application softwares; and provides technical support to consulting, sales, strategic and business development teams in the region. She helps and support projects from small-to-medium-to-mega projects and does project design simulations following established design practices, as well as actual site visits, locally and abroad.

November 2003 when she arrived in Dubai. She was employed in an electronics consumer industry and since then she kept abreast the ways of living of an Overseas Filipino Worker. In order to be productive during her days off, she joined volunteering work after her first year in Dubai. Till today, she plays a role in the community.

She co-founded Filipino Digerati Association (FDA) in 2007 with professional friends. She was the President in 2011 and Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 2012. She became very active in FDA and initiated several projects such as setting up additional branches in different Emirates and implementing livelihood courses. About three years ago when she started doing her volunteering work at the background to pave way and help cultivate inner strengths of potential leaders from the group to become the new future Filipino leaders in the country. She believes that volunteerism works the same whether at the forefront or behind the scene.

Engr. Bautista always has a soft spot for those volunteers who exert time and effort without waiting for something in return. In order to honor them, she joined FDA in a global awards search for Filipino individuals and organizations outside the Philippines that help for the development of Filipinos and/or the nation. FDA won the Banaag Award (“Ray of Light”) awarded by President Benigno Aquino III, Malacanang Palace, Manila, Philippines, on December 5, 2012. FDA was the very first and only group in UAE that received this prestigious Presidential Award from the Office of the President of the Philippines conferred by the Commission of the Filipinos Overseas.

After honoring all the volunteers, the recognition was such a boomerang. She also became a recipient of “Filipino Achiever Award 2013” in UAE for her leadership and community services.

Engr. Bautista hails from the province of Pangasinan. In 1992, she graduated from Saint Louis University in Baguio City, Philippines, with a degree in BS Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE). She used to work in multinational companies involved in electronics consumer products and semiconductors manufacturing industries back in the Philippines where she developed dealing with people in different fields, working well under pressure, team- and detail-oriented. Other job experiences include aeronautical parts, and plastic manufacturing industries.
