Math Coach, Manhattan & Queens Campuses
New York, USA

Rebecca Murry, an architect for 20 years, shifted to teaching mathematics and uses a constructivist-based approach. She believes students need to have the curiosity to learn and not obliged and told how to think. Young mathematicians need to build understanding through peer discourse, make conjectures and generalizations, and reflect on misconceptions. As Math Coach at the United Nations International School, she implements STEAM problem-based courses and innovative math curriculum design.  Her previous international school presentations and webinars in New York, Brazil, Spain, and Denmark focus on Blended Learning, Project-Based math applications, and brain-based research using Harvard University’s Mind Brain Education strategies. She is a book reviewer for Teaching Children Mathematics magazine by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is co-writing a Measurement book. She has a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and a Master of Science in Education for Special & General Education from Bank Street College.
